On August 14, 2010 the XKL Educational Foundation will host Renaissance on the Bayou 22nd Annual Scholarship Gala at the Stafford Centre (10505 Cash Road, Stafford, TX). You should be there!

Come and enjoy a live band, dancing, casino games, dinner, premium open bar, live auction and much more at this year’s 22nd Annual Scholarship Fundraiser & Renaissance On The Bayou Gala. This event will focus on the growth era of the 1920’s – 1940’s in music, art, and poetic expression. Come dressed themed appropriate to converge in the atmosphere.

Tickets are $50 and your support with help:
  • To finance six (6) $1000 College Scholarships for High-School seniors.
  • To assist in financing Xi Kappa Lambda Education Foundation's HBCU (Historically Black College / University) Tour. This tour inspires young students with the determination to seek higher education, by actually allowing them the ability to visit institutions of higher education - First-Hand.

Over the past decade, hundreds of high school juniors and seniors from metropolitan Houston have been exposed to educational opportunities and culturally enriching experiences, because of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Xi Kappa Lambda Education Foundation. Under the theme "It all begins with a dream and a chance to achieve it," the Foundation has provided over 50 students from the Greater Houston area with first year scholarships to assist them in starting their college careers.

This is a wonderful foundation to support and I hope to see you there!! Click here to purchase your ticket!!

The Pamper Party

Hey Everyone,

Sorry for this late delay but I had to make sure to share these pics with you. On March 27th at Alden Hotel we helped Pure Addiction and Pole Party Houston host The Pamper Party. Ladies, if you missed this event I really do feel a little sorry for you lol.

Pure Addiction is an THE online clothing boutique that truly speaks to you fashion senses. Talk about fashion rehab...sigh. I must admit I have a new addiction! Check out some of the pics from this Fab event.

Pure Addiction showcased their Spring 2010 collection while ladies were pampered with demos from Pole Party Houston, mini makeovers, minx demos , great music, cocktails and tasty bites.

While the ladies shopped there were plenty of tidbits provided by *17 to keep their energy up!

Pole Party Houston is an alternative event planning and fitness company. Pole dancing is the new yoga....well maybe not but anything that can give you legs like that can't be too bad.

Our Makeup Artist, Tasha Renee gave it a try!

Age doesn't matter...it is fun and you'll never feel more sexy and confident!

The lovely Athena Elliot from Minx Houston gave Minx demos.

3 of our favorite makeup artists showed off their skills by giving mini makeovers. You have to have the perfect look to go with the perfect outfit.

Sujuane working her magic!

Tinnell sharing her beauty!

Tasha Renee doing what she does best!

The Pamper Party was truly an event to write home about. To see more pics from The Pamper Party check out our facebook Professional Socialites Fan Page.

The "I Do" Brunch 2010

Hello Lovelies,

I know it has been a minute since you've heard from us but we promise you we have not forgotten about you. This past weekend Megan and I attended the "I Do" Brunch in Baltimore. The event was hosted by Who's Wedding Is It Anyway planner, Linnyette Richardson-Hall and her wonderful team at Premier Event Management. The "I Do" Brunch is a chance for wedding planner to be on the other side of the event and be a guest.

The brunch had an English Garden theme and it was carried out in every detail from the tablescape, to the food, to the tea attire and hats.

The Gathering Place was the AMAZING venue that housed the brunch. Once you walked into the room, you were transported to an English Garden Tea Party. I took tons of pictures of the tables and you can see more on our Facebook Fan Page.

Shades of purple, green, gold, and silver....sigh....I love it all. These are colors that can work for a daytime or evening wedding and adding a personal touch will make your day truly unique to you and your guests.

The last centerpiece is my FAV! I'm so inspired every time I attended an event is it should inspire you as well.

Minx Houston

Hey Everyone,

I had to let you know about my wonderful trip to Minx. Now for those of you who don't know what Minx is please go check out www.MinxHouston.com and learn about the hottest new nail trend.

Athena Elliot
is magic behind Minx Houston and has Minxed some hot celebrities including LeToya Luckett, Kim Zolciak from Real Housewives of Atlanta, Crystal Wall (Paul Wall's wife), Mya, Natalie Nunn from Bad Girls Club, Estelle, Keri Hilson, and the list goes on. Click her pic below to go to the Minx Houston Facebook Fan Page.

I went for the first time on Friday, Feb 19th and it was a wonderful experience. Since I already have an overlay on my nails I got to try her Sequin Nails. Basically its a combination of arylic, glitter, and sequins on my nails but she can be very creative. Here's some shots from my experience.

Tell me what you think about that and check out Athena at Minx Houston. Love you, Athena!!!

Blissfully Yours,
Crystal

Myths Behind the Month

Hey Huns,

I received a fan page request from an invitation company called Precious Invitations so of course I went to check out their page and saw something that caught my eye. On their site there was a recent post entitled Behind the Tradition: The Right Time to Marry and I immediately perked up....I have a thing for learning the myths and stories behind all the traditions of marriage. You'd be surprised some of the stories you get. Anyway the entry talks about what the Victorians felt each month meant for your marriage. Here's what they say:

January Marry when the year is new, he’ll be loving , kind, and true.

February When February birds do mate, you wed nor dread your fate.

March If you wed when March winds blow, joy and sorrow both you’ll know.

April Marry in April if you can, joy for maiden and for man.

May Marry in the month of May, you will surely rue the day.

June Marry when June roses grow and over land and sea you’ll go.

July Those who in July do wed must labour for their daily bread.

August Whoever wed in August be, many a change is sure to see.

September Marry in September’s shine so that your life is rich and fine.

October If in October you do marry, love will come but riches tarry.

November If you wed in bleak November, only joys will come, remember!

December When December’s snows fall fast, marry, and your love will last.

Still undecided about when to be married? There is always the Victorian assurance that the luckiest time of all to be married is on the same day of the week that the groom was born, regardless of fertility rites, harvest moons, or when the goddess of love might be looking on. It is better yet to marry on his birthday.

Interesting, right? If you want to see the whole entry check out Precious Invitations' Guide to Your Wedding Experience or click the title of the entry above. Happy Reading!

Blissfully,
Crystal
